All the pups are doing well and all gaining weight. We keep a daily log of all weights for all pups so we can see how they develop and if any require a top up. Good news is those that had minimal or no weight gain have shown a much improved increase today. It also shows who are thre greedy ones! We know who you are! We also had to remark them all as the original marks were disappearing. Seeing some changes already in their appearance, spots showing up on some more than others.
I modified the door on the whelping box today so Daisy can come and go as she pleases. We have found that during the latter part of yesterday see wanted some time out. Today she is now responding to us and taking treats as before she was 100% focused on the pups nothing else came onto her radar! She has, at times, allowed Oreo into the whelping box. He is being fantastic in stimulating and cleaning each pup giving Daisy a break or hand. When she is feeding he is not allowed in the pen, Daisy tells him! When this happens Oreo is none too pleased as he whines and wants to stay in the pen and help out. I find this hard to believe as he has been so good.
The interest in the pups has been surprising, a waiting list is on the go, just wish we could offer a girl to all those interested.

Puppies and Daisy settling down nicely, feeding patterns getting known, what they want and when they want it. Daisy is feeding them well and stimulating them when it comes to toileting etc. Daisy seems to be back to her old self a little, tail wagged today! However her only focus is the pups and it's a game to peel her away for a toilet break! We took Oreo's collar off today so he can sneak up to the whelping pen to peak over the top, before Daisy would hear his disc and start growling at him...

Day 63

August 10, 2011
Okay alot has happened since that last blog update, from 1810 yesterday (9th August) Daisy started delivering her puppies. This carried on until 0330 this morning. On total she delivered 13 puppies, however the last one was stillborn as the placenta had become detached, this we found very hard to take, very upsetting. However we are still reeling from the fact that our little Daisy has produced 9 healthy boys and and 3 healthy girls. We took them all to the vet this morning to get them checke...

Day 62

August 9, 2011
Up all night with Daisy, got little sleep. She's been scratching at bedding, vomitting etc. We've been helping her settle in her whelping box as she keeps going to her bed under the stairs, not ideal as not alot of room for us to get in and help! At 11:20 this morning her waters have broke so she is into her 2nd stage, strange as I wouldn't say she was making a racket as one would expect if having contractions. Oreo has been superb so far, not been left out and has been asleep with Daisy duri...

Day 61

August 8, 2011
Just when you think she must be ready, the pups are like teenagers, not wanting to get out of bed! We have been taking regular temperature checks and seen a little drop but not enought to say it's in the first stage until this afternoon. My daughter has noticed a change in her mood which indicates she may well be starting, so we are keeping an eye on her behaviour. I will say this, Daisy has been excellent throughout, not once has she complained with an anal probe three times a day! Oreo ...

Day 59

August 6, 2011
Daisy is getting close. The pups are moving around, perhaps getting ready for their grand entrance! We are really feeling for her now as she is struggling to get around. We can't help but think of the donkeys on Weston-Super-Mare beach as she looks like one what with the huge lumps either side of her! The waiting list is growing and my youngest girl, who would like to keep one of the pups, is getting worried as there might not be any left! As much as I love them I think two is enough.

Getting bigger!

August 1, 2011
Well our Daisy is not far off now, alot of movement in there and plenty of rippling and licking going on. Daisy is quite an apt name for her as she looks like a cow from behind, what with her udders!

Scan results

July 22, 2011
Well, a little disappointed in that the scan was exciting but unfortunately the vet could not count how many Daisy was expecting as in his words, " she's a bit packed in there!" So I'm afraid it'll be like christmas, so you'll all have to wait to see what you get! He also said she's a nice size!

1st blog!

July 19, 2011
Daisy is blooming very well and her moods are changing daily. Today she can't get enough breakfast and her walks are slowing down. So the walks are getting shorter so just enough to stretch her legs and to allow her to do her 'business'.
